Yoga Arts Fusion Workshops for near Alstonville and the Ballina Hinterland

Anna Heggie Yoga Arts Fusion Workshops for the Ballina RegionExpand your creative experience whether a newcomer to Art or Yoga. And if you are a seasoned artist or yoga enthusiast become re-inspired and extend your repertoire.

Awaken to your inner being, your body and your mind.

Both Yoga and Art are a means to experiencing life through a kaleidoscope of richer meaning and awareness.

The benefits of yoga are many. A calmer more peaceful acceptance and happiness is one of the greatest gifts it has to offer. Stress-release, greater flexibility, body toning and strengthening are physical benefits of the asanas (special stretching and releasing exercises).

Yoga Meditation and Relaxation is where the benefits of deeper connection are experienced.

The benefits of Painting and Drawing and other forms of creative expression extend our perception of life and also require a quiet contemplation of thought processes.

Visualisation skills, fine motor skills, left and right brain activity, using the imagination and developing the mechanics of painting techniques can all be attributed to a richer way of living.

Anna Niblic Heggie from Lennox Head has been an artist and art teacher for over 20 years, and has been practicing yoga for 17 years, so it was only a matter of time before she connected the two practices in her unique yoga-arts fusion workshops.

“We don’t paint or draw while doing yoga,” Anna laughs. “That might be difficult.

“We do yoga first, slowing down the mind, then we move onto creative arts.

“Yoga opens the body, mind and soul, making it more receptive to creative thinking and exploring other avenues of yourself, so it’s the perfect way to start a creative arts program.”

Suitable for all levels, Anna’s yoga-arts fusion combines a gentle Hatha yoga with a slow Vinyasa, Pranayama breathwork, an introduction to meditation, visualisation and relaxation. Apart from preparing your mind and body for the creative pursuits to follow, this yoga class improves flexibility, strengthens and tones and helps to create a deeper inner peace and harmony.

Anna then moves into the creative arts section of the workshop, using mixed-media on paper and various art materials to express ideas, emotions or feelings.

“The creative arts segment provides for a more social experience after looking inwardly during the yoga session,” Anna says. “We can then enjoy conversation over a refreshing chai, tea, coffee or fruit juice.”

The next workshop takes place on Wednesday, January 16, from 2pm to 5pm. Cost is $85.

Yoga mats are provided but you may like to bring a light blanket and a pillow with you for the relaxation. All art materials included and a refreshing Chai, tea, coffee or fruit juice is provided.
